Black-bellied Plover along Shoreline

This is the breeding adult. The distinct black belly make these plovers easy to pick out along the beach. I took this photo while vacationing in Sanibel Island Florida. This stocky plover breeds in high Arctic zones around the world, and winters on the coasts of six continents.
